On October 1st, the federal government entered a partial shutdown after congressional leaders and the White House failed to reach an agreement on spending.
Without a continuing resolution, federal agencies are implementing contingency plans. While some programs continue with previously obligated funds, many others are paused, and access to federal staff and services is limited.
At this time, no compromise appears near. The House remains in recess until next week, and the Senate is expected to return this weekend to consider short-term measures.
