State Legislative Update – No New News on the State Budget; Check Out Our Website for Status of Other State Bills

On other non budget related legislative priorities, please visit our policy and advocacy page for the status of bills we are monitoring.

As of our publication date on September 30, the state budget remains unfinished. Although the state constitution sets a June 30 deadline, that date is often missed—and this year is no exception.

Many believed that with SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) funding no longer included in budget negotiations, a budget deal would soon follow. There is no information indicating how close the parties are in reaching a final decision.

Our legislative update from the end of June, outlining what we hope to see in the final budget, remains up to date.
Local Advocates Share Stories with Congress to Protect Housing Funding Every month, we’ve been holding meetings to share information and bring advocates together to take action against potential federal cuts to housing, community development, and homeless assistance programs. One of the most powerful tools in this effort has been storytelling—sharing how these programs make a difference in people’s lives.

Many participants have submitted stories about programs that helped individuals and families stay in their homes, showing why federal funding is essential. Last week, 29 advocates joined our virtual Federal Capitol Hill Day—held in partnership with the National Alliance to End Homelessness—where they met with members of Congress and their staff to share these stories directly and urge them to fully fund HUD, community development, and homeless assistance programs.

These voices are helping to ensure that families currently served by these programs don’t lose their homes.

Our next meeting is on Monday, October 20 at 12:30 PM. Sign up today to learn how you can protect federal funding.

We want to thank Senator Fetterman’s Legislative Aide, Abimael Jimenez who met with advocates. If you want to join with these voices, sign up today to learn how you can protect federal funding.
