April 2025 | Message from Our Executive Director
| Tell Me Something Good…I asked and YOU did! When asked what inspires him the most about the work, Matt Bartner, Managing Principal, Practice & Performance for Thriven Design said: “THE RESIDENTS. We all know that residents are a powerful force when they are working together with their housing provider. Knowing that we are helping to reduce the chaos of housing instability with the goal of helping them to feel safe and supported, can improve their ability to ‘put down roots’ and make meaningful community connections. We are always stronger together.” Thriven Design is engaged in a number of partnerships that are making a real impact on housing for income-limited individuals and families, as well as those overcoming homelessness. Thriven is providing architecture and engineering services for the revitalization of the Drueding Center in Philadelphia, in partnership with the Holy Redeemer Health System and the City of Philadelphia, which will add 26 units of permanent supportive housing for families overcoming homelessness and trauma. They’re also working with Project HOME under their Estadt-Lubert Collaborative for Housing and Recovery to renovate the Sacred Heart Recovery Residence, which empowers adults to break the cycle of homelessness and opioid addiction through a combination of respite housing and on-site health services. Thriven will provide full architecture, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire-protection engineering for this project, which will add respite housing for 20 people. The Housing Alliance exists to make the work of groups like Thriven possible by advocating for increased funding and improved public policy, supporting local communities with training and technical assistance on effective practices, and hosting multiple educational opportunities.
