Would you support state legislation that would mean more developable land, stronger local housing markets and increased property values all while protecting existing homeowners?
Pennsylvania is on the brink of enacting landmark legislation to do just that by authorizing the establishment of local land banks, the cutting edge approach to dealing with blight. PA's land bank bill, HB 712, would provide for the conversion of vacant or tax-delinquent properties into productive use.
HB712 (Taylor, R, Philadelphia), passed the PA House of Representatives on June 29, 2010 by an overwhelming majority (190-8). It will be considered -- and hopefully passed -- by the PA Senate this fall. (For a summary of the bill click HERE. For the full text click HERE.)
But what is in this bill? What will be the impact on your community? Will it help you get more land for development? Will low income homeowners be protected? What's in it for you? And what's next? Even if there is a land bank, how can cash-strapped cities provide yet another service?
Join us for one of two free, virtual, interactive, "Brown-Bag Webinars" to learn about HB 712, Land Banks and what this legislation could mean for you and your community when it becomes law.
